Description

This lesson is designed to help high school students internalize key background information about the COVID-19 pandemic, including how it started, how and why it has spread, and the current and potential impacts. Students will explore social impacts as well as impacts on public health, the economy, and the environment. The lesson will culminate with students being able to explain this understanding using specific evidence read and discussed in class.

LESSON AGENDA

  1. Engage (5 minutes): Students uncover the key question for exploration in this unit

  2. Explore (20 minutes): Students review different impacts of COVID-19 in a jigsaw activity

  3. Explain (5 minutes): Students engage in a whole class discussion about the impacts of COVID-19

  4. Elaborate (6 minutes): Students engage in deeper analysis independently

  5. Evaluate (7 minutes): Exit Ticket

  6. Closing (2 minutes): Frame upcoming learning
